SKY DSL installer west cork

Does anyone know of a decent installer for skydsl in West Cork... or at least someone who could do it for me....

I have been totally unimpressed with the serivice of the installer recommended on skydsl site ("I've lost my mobile phone, I can't contact the other guy, I'll call you back, I haven't got enough cable, I'm waiting for a part, I can't come now I have to pick my daughter up from kindergarten, etc.. etc...).

Any names/numbers then please pm me...

Or if anyone can advise whether it is possible to cancel my deal with skydsl (before I'm installed and switched on) and find an alternative provider, then I'd like to hear about them.

I can't get broadband via phone line as there are only 130 people on the exchange, so eircom laugh at me, I'm in a hollow so can't see any transmitters belonging to the local wireless company, and I haven't any 3G coverage....

    Thanks

    Chris

SkyDsl is just a TV card or module and software for dialup. Any TV satellite installer can install it (not Sky Only lads, but lads that do Polish, German, etc). Just a regular dish and LNB.

You can watch TV on it when not using it for Dialup acceleration.

The Digiweb product is real two way satellite internet (they install it, not SkyDsl). Eircom used to use MediaSat, who just went bust. Eircom now have an alternate arrangement with an existing leading Irish Supplier.

    Eircom doesn't install SkyDSL either.

    Summary

SkyDsl is a regular TV dish & LNB install, a two-way satellite (vsat) installer won't usually do it. An independent TV satellite installer can do it easily.

SkyDSL is one word. Nothing to do with Sky (BskyB) or DSL (Sky DSL is BSkyB's easynet DSL in UK only, hence confusion).

Heard about this. I used the same service for a time before I got Eircom. Never had a probelm.

I had install within 10 days of receiving my equipment and from what I can gather so have you. Yes I know the chap and spoke with him in the last day or two and he mentioned this posting.

That means you had an install faster than any other stalelite company in Ireland installs.

    Mediasat (Now defunct) 3-4weeks
    Digiweb - 3 -4 weeks

I'd say thats quite good to get it in less than 2 weeks. What you expected was equipment arrives/phone installer/he drops everything and runs to do your install immediately irrespective if he has other things on.

Get with the real world mate...

your insulting a good company built up by some guys from nothing. On top of that hes a single parent looking after his daughter full time and other two kids part time. he does a damn good job and for someone who is supposed to "HELP' enterprising in the locality (You do still work for Bantry Integrated Development?) I think your attitude is a bit harsh!

The others are VSAT. not similar at all.

The SkyDsl is more like ordinary TV install, sometimes getting that within 2 weeks is good.

The Digiweb install time varies from week to week depending demand.

Less than 10 days for any kind of install is quite qood though, unless a system is so poor and unpopular the installer is sitting around doing nothing.

    Anyway lets not get personal.
