Down loading to the PS3 - why does it take so long?

    It took a number of hours for me to download the "Haze" demo from the PS Store. I have a 5MB download according to speedtest.net which should mean I can download 5 MB a second - it's more like 300K a second!

    Why is this?

    you're confusing megabytes and megabits which is what companies advertise their broadband speeds in, and it's normally up to X megabits.

    So what is 5411 kb/s download then? Is this only 541K a second download?

    I have a 9 meg connection and get 1.1mb/s download speed. You wont get anywhere near 5mb/s on a 5 meg line.

    When you hear 5 meg it means 5 megabits. Divide a bit by 8 and you've got a byte. So your 5 meg line should give you:

    5/8 = .625 megabytes a second or 625k/s.

    Because it was just released yesterday and a lot of people are downloading it at the same time.
