I was thinking of getting a cheap and cheerful unit as a gift- nothing fancy, just something to get you from A to B adequately- would this do?

Find out who makes the maps..
It's definitely a decent price, for what you get..
UK and Ireland only. I wouldn't expect map upgrades in the future, so what you get in the box (once you've performed the initial map upgrade) is probably what you'll have to live with.

Not a huge amount of RAM, so might be a bit slow on the mapping screen updates.
