If you're happy to work without a contract, and without paying your share of income tax, then I'd say it's a good bet that any rights you may have are diminished considerably.

Check out www.citizensinformation.ie or www.entemp.ie - there may be more information there.

You can also declare your own income tax, but if you were happy to work without a signed contract and didn't look into this immediately, it's at best naive. You must have known that this wasn't an above the board deal?

naive yes but i'd like to know how to get these's companys to do everything above board without losing my job ' i guess to somebody who will put up with all these back door shenanigans
basically if they wont do these things how do i make them
and if i'm told if i dont like it look for something else
and what if i cant find a job immediately and sign on as it were do i say the company never registered me or is it my fault and will i get in trouble '
i really am naieve to all this stuff

You could ask for them to Sort out your Paye, as woul want to try and claim for the dentist.

curehead - if this company is happy to pay you under the counter, then they are probably the same sort of crowd that will tell you there's no more work for you if you make a fuss.

I don't know if there are any legal options open to you, and I wouldn't look on a message board for legal advice either, other than having a look at those two links I posted earlier.

Really the best advice I can offer is to look for a job in a company that won't act like cowboys.

    Couple of questions...

    Are you from the EU?
Do other people who work there pay tax/prsi?
Have you given your employers a copy of your P45 from your previous employment? Have you given them your PPS number?
Could you talk to your manager about your situation?
