    Hey Folks,

Im looking for a bicycle to do my work commute in relative comfort - 5Km each way (Dublin City) and was hoping to get some opinions on this bike ive seen. Its a touch outside my price range but if its a good deal then id be willing to fork out!

Any advice and/or opinions will be greatly appreciated

    Many thanks :)

have to say i think €400 is probably double what that bike is worth IMHO. 6 years old, and was very entry level back then.

for example here's one that was posted today for opinions. same general spec (sort of). but new.

my opinion is that 400eur is too much for a bike to commute on.

    commuting bikes get robbed.

that specilaized allez wont be that comforable, particularly if you're 6ft tall. that bike would be too small for most of us. then again, depends on how tall you are.

if you wanted to do some more cycling, as something recreational or for fitness, minimum is 700eur.

It's not a fantastic deal but it's not an unholy rip-off either, depending on condition (it would want to be perfect) and if the locks are good ones. Remember second-hand you can always haggle.

Giant are one of, if not the biggest brand, so you can't go wrong with it. I think you could get more for that price, as the big names charge a premium (look at the Focus Corrente for example)

No direct experience but Giant are one of the biggest manufacturers of bikes in the world, making everything from entry-level hybrids to pro-tour racers. They are from Taiwan which is where almost all the other brand bikes are made anyway, and generally represent good value for money. I wouldn't hesitate buying one.

I hope you park it inside somwhere, as in right by your desk at work. I wouldn't leave outside on the street. Plus it's black so it makes it easy to pass on ... you should paint it pink or glittery purple or something ;)
