Here, Didn't see it posted here yet.
Warning: This software is unofficial, not supported by Creative Technology Ltd.

Use it at your own risk.

This utility was written from scratch and does not contain any copyrighted code.

Creative's director of developer relations, George Thorn told me, in a chat session, that is OK to provide mods as patches.

It does not modify any executable or DLL, so it is NOT a crack.
Get it before Creative change their minds. There is just no stopping this guy Daniel_K.

You don't need this unlocker for Xp, Dolby Digital is fine in Xp. Its just Creative didn't want it to work on Vista, so we'd all buy the new Creative X-fi 2 thats being launched soon. They locked it out at driver level. The latest Auzuretech driver fixed it for Azuretech owners, which is basically the same card as an x-fi, uses the x-fi chip. This mod just allows you use that driver.

    I see.

I should have read more into it, i seen DDL and thought it was a mod for it. I remember having DDL when i have a nforce2 chipset, soundstorm. How i wish i still had DDL now.

I'll delete the files anyway or are there improvements using his driver and not the original?

Speaking of Nforce2, nvidia are doing the exact same thing, no vista motherboard driver for nforce2 or any 5 series gpu or older. I only found this out when a friend was lookin for a Vista driver for a 5200 to tide him over till he got a better one. Bástards.

I only really use my XFI for gaming with a headset, should I bother getting these? I mean will these drivers remove the need to use ALchemy for EAX games?

I think so, although I havent removed Alchemy myself. I'm just delighted to have full control again. I'd say go for it, You've got nothing to loose.

So.. is there still a requirement for Alchemy with these drivers or do XFIs now work as well in vista as they do in XP? :)

Interesting. I have the platinum X-fi. Might give these a whirl later on tonight.

ALchemy will still be required if you want to use hardware acceleration for EAX games in Vista, there is no "native" way to do this as audio drivers are written completely differently in Vista (mostly due to the crap that the likes of Creative pulled when "developing" drivers for Win9x and 2k/xp).

Hello everyone, I have another update for you guys today:

It has come to our attention that, in the process of upgrading from Windows XP to Vista and installing driver updates for certain Creative sound cards, Dolby Digital decoding, DTS decoding, and DVD Audio functionality may have been impacted for some customers. Creative has now created separate drivers that are specifically designed to re-establish these functionalities. There are two revised versions of the drivers, one for Audigy and one for X-Fi products. Please note that DVD Audio functionality will only be available for Vista 32-bit systems.

The new drivers also addresses compatibility issues for 64-bit systems that have 4GB or greater amounts of memory as well as a number of other issues. Full details will be provided with the beta releases.

Both new drivers require Windows Vista SP1. Public Beta versions of these drivers are currently on schedule to release in early June and will be announced here in the forum once they are available for download. The final release version of these drivers will be made available in late July or early August.

    Thank You.
    The Sound Blaster Team

    From the Creative forum

Guess this guy Daniel_K has got Creative to try to sort things out, they need to hire him

Update to this thread as it looks like Daniel K has finally thrown in the towel and is not working on drivers anymore. Most of the links where you could find these drivers are now dead.

    I found this one: http://www.aoaforums.com/forum/os-software-firmware-and-bios/44862-dolby-digital-live-unlocker-sb-x.html

The only reason i'm looking is that I finally have a use now for Dolby Digital Live. If you connect your PC to your speakers via analogue jacks you probably won't ever need DDL, but if, like me, you connect into an AV receiver via coax/optical you will need DDL for surround sound in games.
