Hi, I am on a year out from work and as I am interested in yoga and surfing and like travelling abroad was wondering if anyone knew where I could spend a month or more abroad practising one or both of these for relatively cheaply.

    Any suggestions welcome.

PS if there is a better section on boards for this please let me know.

Portugal is often mentioned on the surfing forum as being a nice cheap destination, don't know about yoga though..

Biarritz is also well known for the surfing although it isn't that cheap. Mind you i'm sure there is a cheap hostel that'd give you a good rate for a months stay..

Or do both, fly to Biarritz and then travel across Northern Spain down into Portugal. Some lovely peaceful places in Northern Spain.

Check out the Surf and Yoga retreat in the Algarve

    http://www.surfalgarve.com/

Maybe you could work a deal with them if you are staying longer...

Thanks guys for your help. Have been to Spain and Portugal surfing. Had great time. Think I am looking for something "dirt cheap" as in even cheaper than Spain and Portugal. Would defo recommend Peniche for a week of surf camp had such a good time there.

If you are looking for Dirt cheap then go to South Africa. Flight will be a bit pricey but from then on you can live on next to nothing with some of the best waves around.
