DVD extras

I've just spent some time reading some reviews of dvd sets on Amazon, and a lot of time, people seem to spend a lot of their comments complaining about extras. Now I own a bucketload of TV dvd sets and I can honestly say that not only have the extras never swayed me in buying a set, I can count on 1 hand the extras I've even partaken of (Brass Eye's commentary springs immediately to mind and even then I was kinda bored half way through). Blooper reels and 5 minute interviews "with the stars" are all well and good, but I rarely seek them out. If I've got 20 mins to spare, I'll spend it watching something I know I'll enjoy, ie the show itself.

What do others think of DVD extras?

I like the extra's. Mostly i like the making of, and interesting things like that. But i wouldnt go buying a DVD because of the extras, i will buy it for the Movie/Programme, and if there's extras on it, happy days :)

love em, even commentaries bought shaun of the dead and prestige today just for them, how often do you rewatch these things, makes it more worth buying dvds, so atleast you get something you won't see anywhere else, better then having them sitting a shelf.

Tv extras generally interest me more than movie extras. I think it's more interesting listening to interviews from actors that have played characters you've been following for years, particularly when they're polar-opposite than the character they play.

I like some extras. Alternate Endings are good. Deleted scenes not so much. I hate when you see there's a "Making Of" documentary in it, and it turns out to be short 5 minute yoke.

    Decent extras are good...

    True.
I like on the dvd for series one of I'm Alan Partridge how they have Alan and his secretary Lynne doing a commentary on the episodes.

Also the extras on Peep show like Jez's music video and Marks video CV are excellent.

Favourite DVD extra is audio commentaries.

One of the best TV boxset packages (in terms of both content and extras) in recent years is the 'Spaced' DVD's (though the Wright, Pegg and Frost trio always deliver fantastic DVD extras).
