it's all in the title i guess. Anyone been on a 2-3 week U.S roadtrip? What items did you find invaluable? What do you wish to had? What did you bring that wasn't needed at all?

Any other tips would be greatly appreciated.

Oh, we're travelling around california if that makes a difference.

I lived in Cali for a few years and drove all over the state. Other than clothes and money the only essential thing i can think of is a good road map. The roads are so developed that even in remote desert areas you are never far from anything that you need. Make sure you have good air conditioning and keep some water in the trunk. Small snacks come in handy for when you don't want to stop. A knife may be useful as well as bottle openers, tin openers and some duct tape. Also jump leads just in case. You can get these compartmentalization containers to divide up the boot. Without some sort of organization it becomes a nightmare trying to find stuff as you end up ****ing it anywhere. Driving on the highways will take a bit of getting used to. 6 lanes doing over 100 mph and swerving from lane to lane constantly over-taking is the norm.

And if you plan sleeping in the car or whatever remember that the desert can get cold at night so bring at least one pair of warm clothes.

good site with loads of info here:

the people in the forum have very good advice, although do tend to go a little overboard with what you need, but you'll know yourself which stuff probably won't be worth buying/taking....
