    Hello,

I was wondering if anyone on here would be able to advise if there are any insurance companies here in Ireland that do contents insurance for individuals living in shared accomodation ?

For example i live in a 3 bed terrace house along with 2 other tenants who are not members of my family. (we split the tent and each have our own bedrooms and share the rest of the house)

I have a lockable bedroom door (which i dont think would make a difference) but was wondering if I there was a company here in Ireland that would enable me to insure my contents such as LCD TV, Laptop/Camera's etc....

    Any help would be appreciated,

    Thanks.

    Hey,

Dunno of anyone who specialises in this area but you should be able to insure it normally under a house contents policy, same as if you were living with mates or alone. Big warning though, any theft by someone who lives in the house or a mate they've let into the house is not recoverable under the policy unless they make forcible or violent entry (basically kick the door in)

Try calling a broker rather than an insurance company and getting specific advise based on what you actually want to insure, also if you have cameras etc. you might want to look into "all risks" cover (worldwide).

    Best of luck :D

I had this crap many a moon ago. I rang all the insurance companies and they declined me in a house share. I went to a Cotter insurance brokers in Dun Laoghaire, and they got me sorted. Crazy thing though, they got me insurance with ecclesiasticals who had told me no previously. I want to point out this was about ten years ago but may give you a new direction to try
