Is the dell extended warranty worth the money?
specifically: 150 euro to extend the warranty to 3 years on a system costing around 1100
I don't think it would be likely to break in that period, and even if it did, I'd probably get a new one within 3 years anyway.

Cheers had a look at the thread. Already bought the laptop with 1 year warranty. Read somewhere that they like to sell after sales services so I might see if a salesperson will do me a deal on the extended warranty.

They'll send you out a letter when the warranty is nearly expired telling you, you can upgrade the warranty. They'll probably have it a bit cheaper to try and entice you.

Forked out for an XPS laptop about a year and half ago and decided to go fro the 3 year warranty since I intended to keep it a while. After 13 months the graphics card blew. Within a day or so there was a bloke out to replace it - told me it would have cost about €400 if I'd had to buy it myself (7900GT).
Seemed like a deal to me as the warranty was a bit over €300.
Two weeks later it went again and was replaced again with no fuss.

For laptops I'd pay the cash, desktops I'd have a think about as it's handier/cheaper to sort out spares (I've found)

Its hard forking out the cash when your buying the warranty...but sooner or later it will pay for itself inevitably.
