30, going to chub at bit and in need of some martial arts!

While it sounds like a personals ad, Im wondering if the UL kickboxing club is still in operation and if it takes "outside college" folks like me.

Is kick boxing the way to go? I did a bit of TKD with Mark L in the NUIG club while I was there, and loved it, but I was feck all use at any jumping kick that required turning! and this many years later i'd be twice as bad!

I'm not involved with the club anymore but it should be no problem joining as a non-student, it just cost a little more. Training may well be finished for the summer at this stage though. Email aj_togher [at] hotmail [dot] com for more info.

The club in UL is more of a Kickboxing cum MMA club so you probably see too many flashy kicks. If you have a car I'd also recommend Ger Healy's Combat Sports Centre (website in my signature ), it's a little out of town but well worth the spin, great place to train.

Fergal Quinlan also runs a BJJ club in UL, also worth checking out. Again I not sure what the story is with summer training.

    Best of luck with it!

If its the same as last year then the bjj club will be closed for the summer.
I'd also recommend Ger's place, he trains there tues, weds and fri nights, with Robert Ng running a Muay Thai class out of there on the thurs night

Btw, to the OP, the link to Ger's website is in Tim_Murphy's sig, the combat sports centre
