Hi folks, gonna be flying to Hong Kong later on in the year. Which is better for economy - Virgin or BA?

Both are around the same price and if you upgrade to Premium Economy in BA it's much cheaper than Premium Economy in Virgin.

    Thanks!

    Hi,

I've never flown to HK - but in general would always chose Virgin over BA

not a great difference really but given the ****e going on within BA at the moment id try and avoid dealing with them as much as possible

I'd give Virgin the edge over BA, but BA (at least when you get off the ground) isn't a bad experience. I've had some pretty good long haul flights with them.

Virgin's current Premium Economy from Heathrow is nicer than BA's though, so it may be dearer but it is more pleasant.

Flew to the states with Virgin. Found their staff, in-flight entertainment, food, etc to be excellent. The one downside was the legroom, thought that it was very tight and cramped.

Like a lot of other posters, I would also prefer Virgin over BA and I have flown both Premium & Upper Class on both.

If you do choose Virgin and this is your first flight with them, it would be a good idea to sign up for their Flying Club and start collecting air miles straight away (as you will probably use them again ;) )

Id be reluctant to fly with BA again after the T5 fiasco and the shambolic way they handled it, Qatar Airways though are the best of them all IMO.

We all know BA fecked up - or did they? I think a lot of it was the ejits in BAA. Have a look at this interesting site about Virgin.

I think "later on in the year" seals it.

BA are going through the hoops at the moment, T5, threatened pilots strike, etc.

I'd choose Virgin. Less stress due to less uncertainty and a universal good review.

IMHO, long haul is not about the cheapest cost, regardless of the class you're flying.
