Mirena contraception question

I had my mirena IUD changed last in jan/feb '03, which means it's about three months overdue to be replaced. It totally slipped my mind. I'm pretty nervous right now because I've been shagging away without a care in the world (or so I thought) for the last three months.

I'm wondering if any of the women on here might know how rapidly the mirena loses effectiveness after its five year lifespan? I could be sitting here pregnant for all I know because you dont get periods with the mirena anyway. (at least some women dont, I'm one of them - happy days, I was thinking at the time)

Presumably it wears off after five years gradually? So maybe I'm nearly as safe today as I was back in early spring?

I'll get onto the clinic first thing in the morning; any advice in the meantime would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

but tbh if you are concerned ask your dr to do a preg test but it has to come out one way or the other.

Mine ran over a month and there were no issues.
Your cycle should ahve had to restore it's self so that you could become pregnant.

Hopefully everything will work out for you tomorrow and you can have the old one out the new one in, a smear test does at the same time and your comb will go back to sleep and you still won't have periods. Thankfully that is what happened to me.
