    Hey Guys,

I am completely puzzled about this one ...

I have a Amstrad Sky Digibox which my friend used to have in his house. He gave me the box & dish as he no longer needs it...

I have put up the 60cm Sky mesh dish and have wired up everything.

The problem is with the signal. When I go into Services, System Setup, Signal Test - I am getting a full bar of Signal Strength but my Signal Quality is empty... Lock indicator = Not locked. Network ID = 0000 Transport Stream = 0000

I am using a satellite finder which I bought. I has got a little screen and makes an sound when it finds a signal etc. This is the best I can get it and I am so frustrated as I even bought a new LNB as I thought that may be the problem. I also updated the boxes firmware as I connected it to someones elses dish.

Anyone can help me solve this puzzle, it is really really annoying! :)

You are not aligned to the correct satellite

Correct me if I am wrong but you may have tuned in to the wrong Satellite. There are others very, very close to the Astra's. I am talking a turn of a few degrees.

Edit! Beat me too it, Tony!

At 11 am, the sun is 30 degrees east, so point the dish at the sun, then try moving it up and down till you get a signal. When you have a picture, try to move it slightly in each direction and slowly you will get close to the best position. At the moment, you have no signal.

I had it locked on the Sky satellite last night. Quality bar was less than one quarter full ... I could watch 1or2 channels but it kept breaking up unwatchable ...

So I went up to move the dish again this evening and now its not locked...

With this nice weather we are getting you would be better off setting up a portable TV outside visible from where ever you are moving the dish and allign it that way. It will save hours of climbing ladders and give a better chance of getting it alligned properly.
Obviously you have moved the dish off allignment but you were close so adjust in tiny amounts until signal/picture appears then set to max on the quality bar.
