GLASS CANDY (ITALIANS DO IT BETTER, PORTLAND USA)
    MAXIMUM JOY & DOWNTOWNSOUND'S DJs

    @ Remake:Remodel
    THE BUTTON FACTORY
Friday May 16th, 11pm til late
    ADM: 15.00 / 10.00

Tickets available at www.tickets.ie or Big Brother

The fourth and final 'Remake:Remodel' party sees us teaming up with Maximum Joy to present a live performance from Glass Candy, one of the finest bands to emerge from dance music's increasing obsession with the sleek sounds of late 70's and early 80's euro-disco.

Led by Johnny Jewel, the acclaimed producer who has masterminded both Glass Candy and The Chromatics on the Italians Do It Better label, their retro-futurist discoid sound is topped off with the austere vocals of Ida No (say it again quickly!).

Having started out as a glammed-out no wave/ disco
outfit back in 1996, over the years they have transformed into a full fledged dance "band"- leaving the live drummer behind and going 100% electronic. Their sound is dark, dirty and more than a little strange.

They take an organic approach to writing music, using all
analogue gear and not a single computer. Like so many bands and producers today, they have one eye on the future and one on the past, as evidenced by their faithful covers of Karftwerk's 'Computer Love' and Belle Epoque's euro-disco stormer 'Miss Broadway'.

Either side of what should be a stunning show, Maximum Joy and DownTownSounds DJ's will be joining the dots between no wave, punk-funk, cosmic disco, bumpin house music and beyond...

This should be a fitting send off to our short-lived 'Remake:Remodel' monthly at Button Factory. We'll be moving on upwards from May 30th with 'FLASHLIGHT', our new weekly venture with the Space Campers and Hang Toughiens at the same venue, with Riton, Tensnake and Mano le Tough confirmed as the special guests for the opening night, and more heavyweights to be announced over the coming weeks.
