I've been trying to stock up on games seeing as I don't plan on getting a next gen console. Already picked up/have: FFX + X-2 + XII Soul Callibur 3, MGS3, GT3, GTA VC + SA. Guilty Gear X2 and SMT: Persona 3.

I'm set for beat em up's and racing games. Wouldn't mind another RPG or two but I don't know of any good ones. I was thinking maybe Wild Arms 5 or Suikoden 3 but I've never played any of the prequels...

And yeah. Just any classic games for the ps2!

    God of War 1 & 2
Pro Evo (whichever version you prefer)
Buzz! (Great party game but prob not that cheap)

Well you won't get Suikoden 3 here, it never made it to this side of the atlantic. Suikoden V however did and I'd recommend picking it since it's rather good. Suikoden IV however is one to avoid.

If you like Beat'em ups like Ninja Gaiden, I'd seriously recommend Devil May Cry 3 and God Hand. You might also be interested in Odin Sphere which combines a similar fighting system to RPG elements and is absolutely gorgeous to boot.

Don't miss out on Okami whatever you do. It's a zelda clone and a bloody amazing one at that.

And for the love of god pick up Gradius V if you can find it. It came out on budget at release so should be going for peanuts now. It's far and away the best thing on the PS2.

Another to hunt down is Zone of Enders 2 (first one is meh, second one jaw droppingly good).

Yeah I've heard the GOW games are really good. I'm also thinking DMC 3 and Shadow of the Colossus. Anyone recommend these games?

seconded, shadow of the colossus is amazing. ico is a little trickier, its a slow paced game and needs a bit of patience. the pay-off is definitely worth it though.

any pro evo, they are dirt cheap too, i saw 3 for 99c lately. best ones so far have been 3 and 6 but any of them are good.

i think god of war is muck, its just a button-mashing, quick-time bloated game. approach with caution.

3d beat em up, doesnt get much better than virtua fighter 4 evolution. not much in the way of 2d fighting games, capcom vs snk 1 or 2 would be your best bet if you can find them. dont think street fighter 3 ever came out on ps2 which is a shame.

Whole heartedly. And as has been mentioned pick up ico as well while you are at it.

Also forgot to mention We Love Katamari. There isn't a happier game in existence.

Dragon Quest VIII. You'd be silly not to buy it! Best PS2 game of all

The .hack quadrology (quadrology?). You'll get them for next to nothing now and they're brilliant RPGs with one of the best stories found in videogames. Rogue Galaxy is amazing also.

Had a look around town today and picked up god of war (and GTAIII for EUR4 :P).

Think I'll be lucky to find any of the other games amongst the shelves and shelves of king kong and pro evo...

Might try and find the other games online once I've cleared a few debts.

So lets make a list of games I MUST obtain.

    Shadows of Colossus
    DMC3
    Okami
    Ico
We love katamari (I've heard about this one before. Supposed to be very different and original, but I've never seen it in a shop)
    Gradius 5

I've never been into football games, but for 99c I guess there's no harm in picking one up...

Oh and super furry, I've heard the .hack games are pretty baaad...

Well you are interested in RPGs so I'd say you definitely must not miss out on Dragon Quest VIII, as recommended already, if you are to get just one. It really is a phenomenally good game, leagues ahead of FFXII and god awful FFX-2 and arguably better than the superb FFX.

I really hated the .hack games, you'll either like them or hate them, more than likely hate them. I would however go with Rogue Galaxy. Haven't played much of it put heard nothing but good things and it's by Level 5, the same guys behind Dragon Quest VIII and who have yet to make a game thats anything less than stunning.
