Would anybody know if a degree would be an advantage (I mean a significant advantage) to securing a position at Admin Officer Grade 6 in a local authority?

I'm open to being corrected here but I don't think so. Maybe it's different at higher grades but my degree and masters were no help whatsoever in trying to move up the lower echelons of the local authority grades. If it's a competency based interview which they usually are then you'll be marked on the competencies and not much else.
