Great pictures! They are real space age tenders, haven't seen that type before IIRC.

I seen these type of tenders in one of the fire service journals one time, the specs on them is mental!!! But, when you got planes to deal with , they gotta be. thanks for the info also

    Smokey

The red and white stripes were only on rescue two while been transported, the have to be displayed when traveling on national roads because of the size of them, once it arrives we take them off.

Have to ask, is this fancy red version of Dead reckoning superior to what we see DFB using or just different because its for an airport?

It is differant being an Airport vehicle. It holds up to 13,000 litres of water and 1,500liters of foam, and the operating wirght is approx. 31,000 kg

and it can pump out 7,000liters per minute

    she does 0 - 80 kph in 32 sec

she is completly differant then the normal fire appliance as she is used in a differant role, it also has two moniters, a bumper monister and a main moniter, and three nozels posistioned under neath to keep it safe from a running fuel fire

High pressure hose ready to run out and a dry powder hose which is also ready to roll, it also has state of the art cutting equipment pretty much all you need for an aeroplane incident.

I think I saw this type on tellie a last year. Are they supposed to be really hard to tip over due to the lower centre of gravity?

    They are cool though

Fab rig alright... I wonder if the Gardai could "borrow" it to sort out any future disturbances? Mix in some soap & The Great unwashed would now become The Great Washed :D

Just to clarify she holds 12,000 lts of water not 13,000.
1,500 liters FFFP foam with 5% extra/spare. So therefore has 1,575 liters of foam.

It also has more than 3 underbody nozzels. There are also ones protecting the gearbox and engine. But 3 are only visible from a standing position.

She can pump 5000 lts per minute from roof monitor @ 20 bar or 290psi

State of the art cutting equipment consists of more that a old hacksaw, chisel and hammer

In waterford or other regional private airport do the Fire & Rescue personnel also get trained in security duties or is that supplied by private company?

    Cheers

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 63 ✭✭deiseff

Yes the Airport rescue and fire fighting team also carry out day to day duties including security, apron managment, aircraft re-fuelling, maintance of terminal building, all airport lights including approach lights, cleaning of toilets etc etc.

It is very verastile and every day is different. But when the alarm sounds everyone responds as trained firefighters.

It's probably something to do with all this talk lately about tightening the purse strings.

Just parking of aircraft as them come in. If a aircraft is staying for a few days you put it away from the main area of movement. Nothing major and usually are told what to do!!!

You should, your trained to use it!!! The manual with all the specifications that came with that peticular appliance is out in the Airport. Unless certain individuals wont let you see them in case you become better than them
