As with a lot of carriers, it's all down to you personal experience with them. I've never had a bad flight (just some delayes) while I know others that would rather walk then fly with them.

I like that food mentioned twice ;)

It's probably one of the things they do better, unsurprisingly enough.

Otherwise, as Ponster says lots will depend on the crew, and the aircraft on the day.

Yeah, their food is usually pretty good :)

I live in France and work and speak in French so I know how to ask for an extra pillow, complain about the toilets and such in a way that usually gets the problem treated. It's not always a problem of language that people have with Air France staff but the misunderstandings of what "service" means and such.

For example I'm see people on flights ask the attendant for a new set of headphones because the ones they had only worked in the one ear. Because the person didn't begin the conversation by saying "Hello" and instead just gave their request the person wasn't exactly catered for right away. The person didn't say "hello" and was therefore by French standards rude and speaking down to the attendant. I have a neighbour who works @ CDG who has shown me all the training manuals that they have in how to deal with International flyers who may not know the French 'rules' of etiquette :)
