Heya, I just got a place for my masters in DCU and need accomodation for September 2008. I think it's probably best to start looking early.

The main stickied thread on this forum is a bit out of date.

I have done little to no research on where to live just yet.

I was hoping somebody who knows their s**t could point me in the right direction please?

I presume MonaghanPenguin was asking for an email address.

Surely you both have one of those?

Have a look at daft.ie, the DCU accomodation literature isn't great. From what I remember anyway.

Have a look in Drumcondra, Cabra, Phibsborough, Finglas, Glasnevin, Whitehall, Beaumont etc. They are all decent enough areas and convenient for DCU. You could also rent further out and cycle/bus it in.

Finglas? Decent area? I know some parts of it are perfectly ok and nice to live in but on a whole it doesnt have the best reputation...

As pointed out, websites like www.daft.ie (for accomidation) is probably your best bet. There are oncampus aparetments but they fill up quite quickly and are somewhat limited. The Students Union site (http://life.dcu.ie) is probably about as useful to you as a dog sitting in the corner licking its balls and giving you that indecent look we all dread where you know for that split second he isint doing it to clean himself but doing it to pleasure himself and he is looking at and thinking about you.

I sorta nearly half expected the SU to change the life.dcu.ie page to that piece of shit website bebo at this stage.

There should so be an online version of that gaff book thing, probably a lot more useful than a hard copy of it- and cheaper for the SU

That's the advantage of looking there. I've lived there as have several friends. It has a bad rep (one or two estates are bad, bad) , but the majority is actually fine and is getting better all the time.

I've been looking on the daft website. A lot seem to be looking for professionals.
Anyone know what a decent amount of pay per month is? Like, how much it is on campus so I can know what expensive is. Thanks.
