What are the advantages of having 3rd level education prior to joining the Gardaí

    Apart from the obvious 'more mature' reason, why else would it be adviseable to have 3rd level education before joining.

    Everyone says to get your degree first and then consider joining the Garda.

    I appreciate that at least if you dont like it you have a degree to fall back on but there must be other reasons.........financial????

    If you have a recognised degree of 3 or more years duration, you will rise 3 additional increments on the pay scale after completion of 2 years service.
