I'm in Munster area and am trying to find out what people have typically paid for Site suitability test. Sometimes called percoaltion test. There is also a charge for supervising the installation of the polishing filter. I'd appreciate hearing what peoplem have paid or indeed charged for that.

I am yet to have the tests done however have been quoted 750 euros + vat .....this doesn't include hire of a digger if required. There are no other charges for us (unless of course other holes have to be dug elsewhere if the test fails)

fyi the company my architect usually uses quoted 1500 + vat (inc digger) - I went and found this price from an approved company listed on the co co website.

Prices in Donegal are usually in the region of €600 approx. incl. VAT but excl. digger.

    Hiya,
I was quoted 350 euro (included vat), but the guy did it for 280 cash (his suggestion). Had to do own digger work, etc. He lived close (2 miles away) so he didn't have far to travel. This is in donegal (inishowen).
My brother got a quote from a different crowd in letterkenny for €500 (included vat) as the guy I got was very by the book.

    Hope this helps. icon12.gif

Hope it's OK to resurrect an old topic.
I would still like to hear from others on what they are being charged for site suitability assesments.
    Thanks

Paid €250 in Cork for one last year plus €50 for a digger (mates rates). He dug the holes the night before when he finished work. I also paid about €75 for a load of water to be available on site for the test. I did the hard work for the engineer by jumping in the hole and digging a further foot down and generally did all the donkey work.

To save money while the engineer was on site he did the work for the site layout plan.

700 cash in North Louth, dug holes myself & supplied water.
He was very thorough though & incl geographical/topographical survey, well worth the money.
I sent him my cad drgs & he sent them back with levels and cut sections etc. complete. Saved me hours of cad work.

    €400 - €500 in Wexford.
€50 to dig holes - Wexford.
Agents from Waterford & Kilkenny are dropping prices.
Its starting to be competitive, at last.

Wexford County Council are carrying out trials on Reed beds.

I believe EPA are installing Reed Beds at their HQ at Johnstown Castle.

You could start a new thread on that please as this one is for prices only.

    Cheers

Edit: On second thoughts dont bother as you've over-indulged in spamming it.

    Guys,

Interested to know what kind of % savings I can acheive by organising the digging of the holes and the delivery of the water to site. I'm based in the rural Louth Meath border area.

Are guys performing these tests/surveys generally open to the site owner getting hand on in the prep work to take down costs?

that would be the norm here in Donegal. You engage the assessor and give him/her a copy of the site layout plan and they then indicate where they want the holes dug. Its up to you to arrange the digging of the holes and provision of water on the site.

There's only one assessor Im aware of that arranges the digger and/or the water and even then he quotes both ways. So unless things are different in Meath there wont be any saving as such.
