I had rrod so sold my yet to be returned xbox to the brother for cheap and bought a new arcade and kept the HDD and component cable.

I got the new model with Falcon 65nm chip with AV outlet and HDMI outlet in Smyths in Blanch SC if anyone's thinking of getting an arcade as replacement. It's a bit quieter playing games and should be reliable too but remains to be seen.

cheers, thats good to hear, i was starting to believe the ps3 fanboys comments of comparing the 360 to a jet engine when playing GTA. just hope its not as noisy as a dreamcast, man when playing PSO online they went apesh**!

tbh, I have one of the new ones and I still think its a bit too noisy

Unfortunatly saying its loud or its not loud is pointless really since different people are going to have different ideas of what "loud" is.
Unless someone goes and measures it with a dBA meter of course.

So personally I find my xbox quite noisy, about as loud as a X1900XT on 100% fan.

I wish it were as loud as a sega megadrive.

It's still i little loud but my old one nearly made a vroom noise at some stages when loading certain things like a certain point on some maps on COD 4. Think that's what made it rrod.

Most of the noise is not really the fan at all but the DvD drive I find. There are mod's about with guides on replacing the fans with quieter ones which also push more heat out... but the noisy DvD drive is still the annoyance :(

So stick a flashed pc drive in. A lot quieter.

you need to find a batch with the Benq drives in them as they are a lot quiter then the older drivers, but its a bit of luck to find them, its like pulling teeth to get a dis-interested gameshop employee to check for you!

Mine has the Benq drive and its still loud as hell.

i got one a couple of weeks ago. sometimes it bothers me but most of the time it dosnt. i dont watch films or anything on it though, just games.

Ironic as my pc is as noisy as hell but dosn't bother me in the slightest
