Getting the dole as a student

    Does anyone know if its possible for students to get the dole during the summer holidays. Im at University in Scotland and im looking for summer work in ireland, buts its proving difficult. and i wondered if i can get the dole. ive heard that students cannot get the dole in they havent finished their course~! is this the case???

    Yes. And unless you get a letter from your college proving you have finished then they won't deal with you.

    Find your local office here and give them a call or drop in during the week

    They'll sort you out with the info you need, they did when I was in a similar situation.
    Remember, they work for you and they were setup for situations exactly like yours. They're very good!

    If you're doing an ab initio degree, you have pretty much no chance. However, if you're doing diploma + add-on degree + add-on honours degree, then you can get away with it. Expect a lengthly process though, and you probably wont see any money before August, although it will be back-dated.
