paying Chorus subscriber with no channels

Living in Mullingar and about 1 year ago we got Sky digital with dish! At the time we also had Chorus analogue and decided to keep this as we could have it in other rooms of the house. We haven't watched any of the TV's connect to chorus in the last 4 months roughly! When we checked yesterday there was no signal on any these. I've checked the box outside and the cables are connected ok as they always have been. If I try to re tune I get no channels.

Is it possible for Chorus to switch your feed off remotely without disconnecting you from the box outside the house?

I have tried connecting directly to the main cable line also (not from the 4 points on the cable box) and still have nothing.

Also we got a leaflet in the letterbox a few weeks back saying that digital was now available in the area. I thought that they would continue to provide analogue channels.

As we have Sky digital it is not urgent however we're still paying for chorus and not getting a service.

I'd suggest you ring UPC on 1908 and find out.
If you're still paying a bill you ought to be getting service!

The only area so far where analogue cable has been completely shut down is Cork on the former Cork Communications cable network which covers Cork City, its suburbs and satellite towns.

If your cable network is being fed from an MMDS feed, it's also possible that it's been switched to digital. You could have missed an onscreen message or there may have been an insert in your bill suggesting that you call in to make an appointment to get a new box.

Also, it's possible that there's a fault on your cable line and because you haven't watched the service in a long time that it wasn't reported and the cable's been off as a result.

In general, if you plug a TV directly into the cable in most areas (except Cork) you'll get the basic analogue channel line up.
    (In Cork you'll only get RTE1, RTE2, TV3 and TG4)

If there's no signal, you'll need to contact UPC and get them to check it out.

Also, just as a tip. Don't try phoning them after 5pm or at lunch time. They seem to get a flood of calls at that time of the day.
If you call at about 10 or 11am it seems to get straight through!

Yes some MMDS areas are 100% digital now, so cables fed by them obvoiously have no Analogue.

Write and get refund and disconnection :)

You can add additional subscription free receivers off one dish by changing LNB on the dish arm.
