Hey, I was asked to choose a laptop for someone, This will be replacing an ancient Fujitsu pos. Basically all the user does is Office/Web/Streaming/Music/Dvd's etc. She also uses some applications like Dreamweaver but im not sure that will last.. I just want to be sure of myself before I order so Id like to know what you guys think.

Im thinking the following.. Its pretty good value.
    BASE:Intel® Core™ 2 Duo Processor T5550 (1.83 GHz, 667 MHz FSB, 2 MB L2 cache)
OS: Genuine Windows Vista® Home Premium - English
HARDWARE SUPPORT :1 Year Base Warranty
WEBCAM 2.0 Mega pixel web camera
COLOUR CHOICE Midnight Blue Colour with Microsatin Finish
    LCD 15.4" Wide Screen WXGA (1280 x 800) Display with TrueLife™
    MEMORY 2048MB 667MHz Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM [2x1024]
HARD DRIVE 160GB (5400RPM) SATA Hard Drive
GRAPHICS CARD Integrated Intel® Graphic Media Accelerator X3100
OPTICAL DRIVE 8x DVD+/-RW Optical drive, including SW
    PRIMARY BATTERY 6-cell 56WHr Li-Ion primary battery

This comes to 618. Im just wondering about a few little things.. Like would it be worth upgrading to the 2Ghz proc? Does anyone have a link showing the difference in power consumption between these chips? And would there really be that much of a performance difference between the 1.83 and 2ghz procs when mainly using things like Office and Web? Reason I ask is that the person who is going to be using this laptop would like a decent battery life (current laptop only lasts for 20 mins!)
She does not play any games so integrated graphics isn't a problem. And I presume an integrated graphics chip uses far less power than a dedicated pci-e chip anyway.
160gb is definetly plenty of storage, she gets by with 40 at the moment.
2gb Ram should be plenty for her too, I don't think she would really get the benefit of anymore than that.

Please let me know what you guys think about the proc, or recommend a completely different laptop if you have any better ideas!

    Thanks.

Seems like the right machine for the job, i wouldn't bother upgrading the processor if it's only browsing and office work. I would get a 9 cell battery, seeing that battery life is a priority. Can i ask what machine that is, vosrto, inspiron, xps etc?

Oh, sorry I forget to mention that.
Its an Inspiron 1525. Evalue - N0552508 ( I just changed colour and webcam, its 549 base)
I did think about the 9cell but she would hate the huge think sticking out the back and its another huge cost at € 145. But battery life isn't that important. Id just imagine she would like a nice long battery life after being stuck with about 20 mins for the last year or so.
