Question About Working in Scotland

Ok, so Im moving to Scotland this June, permenent this time so I need to get a job and pay rent, light and heat on the flat etc. What I want to do is finish up with my current job, Ive already given notice, get the P45 and then apply correctly through the Inland Revenue to get any documents I need so I can work and pay tax in Scotland - and not get screwed with emergency tax - but I dont know how to do this?

Im Irish, born here with an Irish passport, and Ill be living on my own so my question is does anyone know what forms I might need, if any, to give to a potential new employer in Scotland? Is there an organisation I need to register with in the UK, a "transfer" form that needs to be filled out, please advise! Thanks

you need to get a national insurance number over there like our pps number. Then you will have it for your employer, for the benefit of paying tax, getting bank account etc..

The local Jobcentre office - http://www.dwp.gov.uk/lifeevent/benefits/ni_number.asp#where

Don't forget that living in Scotland isn't as cheap as it seems - rents might look cheap but they don't include council tax :-(
Am moving there myself next year to do a masters...
