It looks fine. One thing though, it looks like you added norton to that, did you? f so, remove it. Norton is rubbish, avg, avast, avira (all free) are much better. Same with anti-spyware and firewalls. The free ones are better than norton and are more than enough for the average user.

    Yeah dont get Norton..

Avg, spybot and ad-aware are free...

Vostro 1700 laptop is a nice bit faster and same price..

That is obviously much better, but how much does it cost you? Dell can be quite expensive and I'm sure you could find a better deal.

Unless you're hardly ever going to carry it around, I'd go for a 15" screen laptop - those 17 inchers are big and heavy.

The Spec looks good, the true life display is great...

2 things you should definatley change...

1....Upgrade to the longer life battery, it's essential

2....Upgrade to Vista Ultimate 32bit, it's excellent and will make a huge difference....

It's a good spec, if you call Dell ireland and get onto one of the irish guys in cherrywood you shold be able to get a discount even after the 2 upgrades I recommend you to get.....

    Happy surfing.....

2....Upgrade to Vista Ultimate 32bit, it's excellent and will make a huge difference....

    How exactly?

1....Upgrade to the longer life battery, it's essential
The one thing to bare in mind here is that the 9 cell battery will stick out the back of your laptop (or at least it does for the 15" laptops, might not with the 17")
2....Upgrade to Vista Ultimate 32bit, it's excellent and will make a huge difference....

I don't know about that. If memory serves when i bought my laptop last year i was looking at the Vostro 1700 and Ultimate was not available for it. Also i have Ultimate (got it with a Vostro 1500) and a buddy has Home Premium, I have not spotted 1 thing that i have that he doesn't that i actually use, besides DreamScene...
