Thinking about heading down to Indie Pendence or the Mitchelstown fest, whatever you want to call it. I've never been before and I like the look of the line up - The Flaws, Fight Like Apes, We Should Be Dead, Cathey Davey, The Blizzards, Ham Sandwich and more.
Just wondering if anyone here has been before?
Where are the gigs held? In venues around the town or all in one venue? If it is all in one place, is it outdoor?
I'd like it if it was spread around all different pubs, that'd be cool.
Plus I know its free but do you have to pick up free tickets anywhere or just turn up?

Its held in the main square in the town.
The square naturally slops gently down to the stage (plenty of pubs around the swuare if it takes to piss rain).
Its a proper stage and rig, very professional infact.
Best of all, its free, yep just turn up and enjoy the bands.

We were there two years ago and the only downside we had was just before The Chalets went on stage the girls in the band wanted the backstage area cleared so they could get their outfits on and makeup done.
One of the lads was pissed and took great exception to this, called them every name under the sun and was forcefully ejected by the security.
Well least thats the way he tells it! :D

But yep, totally free and with an good rig.
Ye cant really go wrong at those prices, enjoy.

Yeah, last year I went for the first time to see a band iv been obsessing about for a while. I was on the way up from Cork and popped in for a few hours and it looked like there was a great vibe going on. I'll definitely make an effort to go see more bands this year.

Might wanna follow up with some of the bands in regards to the venues they're playing in though. I know I wanted to see The Flaws set but they never played on the main stage and found out afterwards the played in a pub - i think it was the Bodhran.

Festival is a great laugh. As said before, the stage is a properly set up rig at the bottom of a slope, so you can see the stage from anywhere. The music isn't usually my thing, but they have a few sideshows around, such as firebreathers, etc. At the side of the square are a few pubs, two of which sell pints (plastic glasses) from a kiosk to the side, so you never miss the music. Some of the pubs have smaller (usually local) bands during the day too.

And its all free. Organisers are probably afraid of the Danni Minogue incident which left the treasury broke.
