I Want to buy a new more advanced drum kit. I am currently using an SX (more or less) beginner kit. I have been playing for about 5 years. I have found that good drum kits are hard to come by at an affordable price range in europe. i have been looking at the guitar center website and they have some very attractable kits for good prices. one that caught my eye is a pacific (by dw) CXR 6 piece. there is no reviews written so i have no feedback. Does anybody know anything about the quality of pacific drums or about htese models? Does anybody have a kit of this make?? I need to be absolutley positive before i buy one because i will be using a shipping company and i will not be able to refund it. I play mainly rock with bits of metal and im looking for a great sounding, great looking drum kit. does anybody have any other suggestions??? all help would be greatly appeciated.

    Howdy,

I am a proud owner of a DW collectors kit and I currently have a Pacific MX as my "road kit", as such. The finish is tobacco burst and looks pretty slick. Its 10" and 12" rack toms, with a 14" hanging floor tom, with 22" bass drum. It came with a matching 14" snare also. Its all maple shells and it cost about a grand (euro) 3 years ago. The kit itself is very versatile and would suit perfectly for rock music. The snare is not a world beater, but alright for the price you pay. That dosent bother me so much, as I have a few different snares to use.

If you are looking for decent quality and sound, you cant go wrong with the Pacific brand as it is all DW quality, at affordable prices.

If you are worried about shipping, John in the Naas drum centre gets all the PDP models in, and he is very reasonable in terms of cost. I have bought a few snares off him, and he always has a rake of drums in stock. Give him a buzz 045430677 / 0861739240

Also, check out www.drummingireland.com - thats where most of us drummers hang out and talk all about drums!
