virus changing DNS settings

    just a heads up


    if you regularily manually remove virusses, one thing i have noticed twice in the last week is that some are now setting up manual DNS addressess, which prevent windows and antivirus updates

    And hosts files while there at it....thats an old one though, usually pointing the installed AV Apps update site to another site altogether.

    yeah the windows update error pointed to host file entrys, but it was fine


    never heard of a virus setting dns to manual and entering 2 servers before, will post the 2 ips if i see it again

    As it is entirely possible that these would be IPs of similarly compromised personal computers, please do not post the IP in its entirety.
