Now here's the problem, my g/f's niece has a new baby and sent her a txt tonight saying she has booked the local pub for the christening and although they have a DJ available she would like to offer it to me. She said how much would I charge and I said I would do it for free as a christening present. (I might get more work from it anyway!)

We were in the car at the time, so when I looked in my phone it just said '***'s christening' for that day as she had already told me the date. So I said would be fine. But when I got home I looked in my diary and there was a note about a gig on the same day. Thing is although I have the person's name and phone number and venue details, it has been arranged by a DJ friend of mine. I haven't contacted the person, and I have just been given the details.

The thing is, this DJ has given me gig dates before and then they have been cancelled, (one was a wedding and I wasn't told until 2hrs before I was due to leave!) So what do I do? cancel the christening, (I wouldn't be able to go anyway as the other gig is in skerries and the christening is in fairview) or do I call my DJ friend ASAP and say something has come up?

If you value family over work then I say go do the christening, since you mentioned that the work given by this DJ isn't very reliable anyways...
