Self esteem issues - ideas?

I have low self esteem. I've been battling to overcome it my whole life and while I've improved some, I still suffer from low confidence, social anxiety etc. It is negatively impacting my life to the degree that I haven't considered myself 'happy' since I was about 12. I'm now 25. I'm becoming worried I'll never get over it.

I'm considering going to see a psychologist but I'm not sure if that is the right way to go. If anyone who has been in a similar situation and has found something that has genuinely helped could advise me it would be appreciated.

    Thanks

You need to find out why you have this negative view of yourself and a psychologist may be able to help you do that.
    Good luck!

OP a Lot of people suffer from this problem. So you are not alone. I find immersing myself in something like my hobby and striving for greatness is hapiness.

The therapist will help you figure out why you have low self esteem.

In the meantime you need to develop things you can be proud of.

The easy ones are how you look. Buy new clothes, get a new hairstyle, get your teeth whitened, whatever. Looking good will give you confidence and make you feel sexy.

Joining a gym and sticking to a regular routine will make you feel good about yourself.

Become good at something. Whether this is through education or some obscure sport, being an expert in something will give you a lot of self belief.

In other words, you're not going to get self esteem by sitting around. You have to make it happen. Therapy + doing things you'll be proud of will 100% make you feel good about yourself.

thats it, you can read that post and over and over again but if you don't actually follow through on what is in it, it's no good. Think of that as a manual for life for the next few weeks.
