PS3 - 60gb production stopped?

This is probably old news to some of you, but I didn't know

Was looking around for a PS3 60gb over the past few days and I discovered that Playstation have stopped producing them. I was looking to get one since I don't have a PS2 and that I was looking to get a PS3 60gb for GTA, and due to the previous compatability with it. Since 40gb doesn't cover PS2 games, does anyone know whether there are plans for something to be coming out in the near future to cover previous compatability since the only thing in shops at the moment is the 40gb? I read something recently about the 80 and 120gb PS3s in Japan or the States. I don't really want to get a PS3 40gb and a PS2.

you could also probably get a 60gb ps3 second hand. i saw them in game ilac centre a while back for around €485 with 2 or 3 games (all launch games)

Sony are re-releasing the 80gb in the US with the MGS4 pack, they didn't say if and when it will be released in Europe.

I'm holding off on buying a PS3 until they release it again with Backwards compability for the PS2.

The hard drive size means nothing to me as I'll probably change it once I get it

No new PS3 for Europe for MGS4 bundle.
Its going to be 40GB No BC version for the future IMO and its working fine for SCEE at the moment.
The big PS3 games are now out, due out this year and reason to play PS2 games is fading.

IMO i dont think they want people buying PS2 games anymore, just wait for the PS4 with backwards compatability for PS3

I'd rather not put old PS2 discs into a new PS3 ,keep the machine clean:)
