Supernova Scotia started out in 2006. The brainchild of David Sheenan, the Kilkenny -based group is a blend of electro pop with lots and lots of Zouk. Dave joined up with John Prendergast, Stephen Morton, Niall O'Regan and Neil Quigley(Jazz Panda) in 2007 and started to play live. They played their first show with Queen Kong at the Problems at the Pancake House night in Cleere's and played there again the next night at a fund-raiser for the Devious Theatre Company.

Since then the group have gone from strength to strength; now performing as a two-piece they were invited to support Waiting Room in Cyprus Avenue at the Cork band's last gig and will be playing Whelan's, Dublin, at the launch of Dublin quartet New Amusement's new album.

Expect a release of some kind this summer. Until then keep checking out the Supernova Scotia myspace, which is updated regularly with new music and other delights:

    Cars In Walls
formed in December 2006 around frontman Peter O'Sullivan. Although the band had previously been through numerous incarnations based around Peter's music, the current incarnation represents a true collective and collaborative entity, a step forward musically for all involved.

Drawing comparisons to Arcade Fire and Sigur Ros amongst others, the bands music is a true mix of stark fragility and huge, roaring noise.

Check out http://www.myspace.com/carsinwalls for music and much love.

"From hushed beginings, Cars in Walls gradually build from an indie-orientated Mogwai circular motif, adding layer upon layer to create a sweeping wide screen sound in much the same vein as Icelandic dream weavers Sigur Ros. It's epic stuff to be sure, packed full of floating other-worldly melodies and ascending spiralling guitars". - Cork Independent

"Cars In Walls delicately melt the lines between epic and lo-fi. - Limerick Independent

Comparisons with the likes of Sigur Ros and Arcade Fire are utterly justified when you listen to the band's sweeping, mellifluous sound. If you want to hear a band that will mess with your senses and send shivers up your spin, then go see Cars In Walls. - Laois Nationalist

    Video works by mrpaulmahon

The night will be all the more special as it will feature a show of some of the video works by mrpaulmahon, who will then provide live visuals for both groups. Paul's work will be familiar to anyone who has seen Rarely Seen Above Ground's live sets or have viewed his fantastic music video for Tech Noir Grand Re-Opening by The Vinny Club.

Check out mrpaulmahon's videos on his myspace account 'Gepetto' here:
