Sapphire and Steel, TV return.

Very surprising news: Hoping to emulate the success of BBC's Doctor Who series, RTE Television have bought the rights to 70's cult TV show Sapphire and Steel, with a view to in house production. RTE's commissioning editor of drama, Jane Gogan, has said that she is very excited about the project and plans to bring Sapphire and Steel "into step" with modern times by introducing an interesting mix of guests, chat, music and some great prize give aways, not to mention fun features on patio furniture and You're a Star crossovers. Gogan also said that there would be less focus on the "imaginative and fantastical elements" of the original show, which she claimed would be unpopular amongst Irish audiences. However, Gogan stated that fans of the "mysterious and out there" need not worry as Sapphire and Steel will regularly welcome alternative healers and astrologers like Fergus Gibson to the studio.

Rumour has reached fever pitch over who is to take the leading roles in the show's return, as David McCallum is now dead and Joanna Lumly drunk all the time. Seoige and O'Shea are said to have their hopes up but Gogan hinted that it is Sharon Ni Bheolain and Mark Little that will in fact be "stepping out of the TARDIS to take on old enemies like the Cylons and Dan Dare". Top scribe Kathy Kelly is said to writing the first draft to episode one now. "I think we're going to get this one right," said Gogan.
