Sony Ericsson K800i charging problem - Please help

Hey - quick question hopefully someone will be able to help.

I own a Sony Ericsson K800i - have had it about a year. On Thursday morning, for some reason, it wouldn't charge when I plugged the charger into it. It would come up with 'Optimized Charging' and start for a second or two, and just stop.

I went into a Three store (it's a Three phone) to see if they could work out what was wrong. They plugged it into the mains and it started charging normally. Thinking the problem was with my charger, I bought a new one in a different store. However, when I brought it home, the same problem occurred. I went back to the store to try and return the charger, but they tested it - on my phone - and again it worked normally.

I've just plugged the phone into the PC using the USB cable, and it connects normally (I don't know yet if it's recharging though).

Obviously, I'd like to get this problem fixed. However, I'm worried that when I go to a store tomorrow they won't be able to find any problem with the phone (making me look a little stupid). Does anyone have any experience of this problem, or any idea what might be causing it, that I could suggest when I go in?

    Cheers.

Are you using the same socket when charging at home? Have you tried different sockets?

    Aidan,

Yup, tried different sockets, then tested the sockets I'd used with other appliances to make sure they were working, so the problem doesn't seem to be at that end.

I thought it might be the connection itself (the little 'teeth' - whatever it's called) but it seems okay with the USB connection and it does appear to be charging from that right now. Would it be something up with the battery?

I've seen the little teeth in the connector getting bent before. A rare occurance but it does happen.
