I bought a new laptop from dell a couple of months ago. I just tried watching a region 2 dvd and its coming up with a message saying it is the wrong region. As I bought the laptop from Dell Ireland I presumed I would be able to watch region 2 dvds.

Has anybody any idea if this is the case with all dell laptops

    Cheers

If you play it through vlc player then you should have no problems.

Theres two possibilities. Firstly you've watched several region one dvd's ie.from the US and the dvd drive in the laptop has been region locked to US/other region only dvd's (it would have given you a warning) or otherwise the region 2 dvd you have...well isn't region 2.
