Pregnancy symptoms while on the pill...

Ok I know that I can't know for certain until I take a test, but if anyone can just share their experience with a similar situation, that would be great :)

Been taking the pill (yasmin) for about a year now, only form of contraception we use, unless i'm sick or on antibiotics. Sometimes when I don't want my period at a certain time, I take 2 packs back to back and skip the period, however I usually get my period a week or two before the second pack is finished.

So I just finished taking the second pack yesterday (of taking 2 back to back). No sign of a period yet...although I'm hoping in a few days it will come. But then again, about 2 weeks ago I felt quite sick (didn't actually vomit), just put off food, which isn't like me. Very tired too. Are these symtoms of being pregnant. I have been stressed lately with college, so I hope that could be a reason.

Also when should I take a test?

    Thanks

As far as I'm aware, being stressed can make you skip your period. So you shouldn't be worried too much. Have you been taking the pill as instructed by your doctor/pharmacist? Have you missed one accidentally?

There are pregnancy tests out there that you can take. You should do it as soon as you can, to be honest, as it will give you an answer of whether or not you are. And if it turns out you definately are not, then you can address why you were feeling sick.

    Hi!

I once missed a period completely a couple of years back and I'm convinced the more I stressed out about it the less chance I had of getting it! I obviously wasn't pregnant but the combination of not eating properly, not getting enough sleep and being generally stressed to the hilt will cause all sorts of havoc with your period.

Only thing I would say is do a pregnancy test before you start taking the pill again next month. There are ones out there now that will detect preganancy within 3 days of conception so you can do it immediately. It'll set your mind at ease and you can stop stressing out about it straight away. I

Best of luck, I know how it feels, it's pretty much the scariest feeling ever. But it'll all work out fine and I'm pretty sure the nausea you were feeling could have nothing to do with a pregnancy because it ususally occurs much later in the whole affair.

You might have just had a slight tummy bug.....grab yourself a test today..thats the only way youll feel better. No point stressing until you know you have something to stress about.

When you run two packs of the pill together, you shouldn't get your period until the second pack is finished. There's usually spotting, but not a full period. It's more unusual that you get it before the second pack is finished than it is that you haven't got it now. Generally, it takes a couple of days for your hormone levels to drop and the bleeding to start.

It takes a while to settle into a pill, easily up to a year before it stabilises. No doubt your period will start in a couple of days. If you really are worried though, take a test immediately.

    Op,

I really doubt that you are pregnant if you have been taking the pill everyday, you are probably just stressed out, that has happened to me before.

Get a test and test your first urine in the morning, put your mind at rest. Best of luck

My girlfriend is on Yasmin too. Since she started using it maybe a year and a half ago we've had two very stupid, very needless pregnancy scares for this exact reason. Occasionally her period has been a few days late for seemingly no reason at all, especially if she decided to skip one the previous month.

I would advise that if it doesn't come within a week of when it was supposed to perhaps get checked out. Pregnancy symptoms are so vague (like nausea and fatigue) that I wouldn't worry about them until you have cause for suspicion for other reasons.

IF you are worried to a pegnacny test, they dont' cost that much and the peace of mind when it comes back negative is so worth it.

The contraceptive pill actually fakes your body into thinking that you are pregnant that that way a ova is not realsed so it is not unusual to have some sympthoms.
