DVB-T question

Just bought an AVI kitchen TV/DVD combo from the UK which has both an analogue and DVB-T aerial input. No matter what I do, I can't get the DVB-T to work.

In the living room both my TV and HDR work fine on digital (set up as UK). I brought the kitchen unit in to try on their aerial feeds, and still no joy.

Any thoughts on why I can't get it to work?

Where are you? few places have DVB-t All transmissions are either Trial or Test depending on location and may not be compatible with all DVB-t receivers.

Ratoath. Have a Pioneer HDR which is DVB-T labelled and works fine!

Check if there is a option about scanning scrambled channels at the kitchen TV.

No, can't seem to find anything - booklet is rubbish and menu options are limited.

Buying a combo from the Uk is a problem because DTT will use MPEG4 not the UK MPEG2 standards. Boxes here will probably be backward compatible with MPEG2 in ROI bearing in mind the border and that such extra doesn't add much to box cost. Area covered is only Greater Dublin and Louth at the moment but that will change come early 2009.

Your problem may be that your tuner is set to UK. You will need to change this in the installation menu to Ireland, if it is available on that model. The trial has its own Country ID. Once you reset the country to Ireland if it allows you to do that you should pick them up from 38 on.

You can't view them because the channels are not broadcasting using the UK Country ID. If you can't change the country then unfortunately you will be stuffed with that combo unless some TV guy has a software upgrade solution to add a country ID manually which they should be able to do.

Cheers, good points there that I'll relay to AVI.

If I remember correctly though, my Pioneer HDR was setup for UK tho' - I may be wrong...
