    Hi all!

Iv'e noticed that u can't choos 1440 x900 resolution on XPS M1530 anymore. Anyone wanna take a guess for the reason why?? My guess is that LED dispalys are coming very soon :D

The M1530 1440x900 with LED backlight is already available in some markets. Its only a matter of days/weeks before an option pops up on the Irish page, so yeah, this could be an indicator that it's about to go up.

Its strange that they wouldn't keep the regular CCFL 1440x900 on the site also. They just launched the new Vostro line, and as with any line-up, they seem to be short of stocks etc. They may have just diverted stocks of the 1440x900 screens from the XPS to the better selling Vostro line.

I was just about to buy that bloody laptop!! I had it in my saved items but they seem to have deleted it. I had everything including the 1440X900 resolution screen but now I have to downgrade to the 1280 if I want to continue. Do you guys think there would be a significant difference between these resolutions considering I will only use the laptop for personal use and am not into games? Also do you guys have any idea what DELL are likely to add to the price when they introduce the LED? They charge an extra €66 to upgrade to the LED for the 1330 but I guess if they're introducing the screen for the first time on the 1530 they're likely to increase it by more.

The 1440x900 LED backlit screen is a $200 option over the basic 1280x800 on the Dell US site. (or $150 more than the regular CCFL 1440x900)

You could probably do a straight conversion to get a rough idea of how much it'll be here. Although don't forget that if you're ordering it through the EPP or with a 10% voucher, you can make a bit of a reduction on the relative increase.

If you're actually looking to buy a laptop, I would ring them up and they will probably be more forthcoming about what the story is. Im sure they 'have' the regular 1440x900 (the would have to keep spares and parts etc), so they might sort you out if it was the difference between making a sale or not. Can't hurt to try.

Rang them up and got the 1440 resolution alright. Couldn't be bothered waiting around to see if they introduce LED screens or not. The sales agent told me they won't be introducing them on the 1530 because the technology is not compatible with the machine. I should have told him to open up the US site and tell me what he sees there!! Not sure if it would be worth the extra 150-200 euros anyway.
