Monday 5th May at 4.00, the Clonliffe 2 mile road race. Apparently the oldest continuously running road race in the world, about 117 years in a row now (some UK races been goping on longer but stopped for World Wars). A very fast course as it is one mile downhill, half mile uphill and half mile flat.
    Prizes for first 6 M & F, 1st 3 Junior M & F, 1st Vet M & F from O35 - O60 and 1st 2 teams M & F and Junior M & F (3 to score).
Registration and changing in St. Vincents School, Glasnevin from 2.30, race at 4 (start about 2 miles from registration, run the course in reverse for a nice warm-up) and prize-giving in the Gravediggers pub afterwards.
A great race - what else is there to do on a Bank Holiday Monday???

Nope - the more the merrier. All ages and standards. Fastest will probably be around 9minutes, slowest around 30mins. Usually a few walkers.

Just a big thank you for this thread. Without it I wouldn't have run the race, my first proper road race since about 1991! I ran the GOAL mile at Christmas in 8:00, so 16:38 is quite pleasing. I was under even less pressure today, with no wheeziness or major stiffness (yet). I wore my Garmin 305 and the distance it gave was very close to the actual, at 3.23km. I averaged 178 BPM over the whole distance, which equates to about 105% of my max (being 48 years of age) and maxed out at 191 on the final sprint.

My 14 year-old son beat me by 4 mins and 32 secs! :o
