I heard a rumour he's supporting Leonard Cohen at one of the gigs coming up

    supporting leonard cohen?
too big to support him......plus doesnt really fit in with his style these days.
anyway thought that honour went to damien rice krispies.

    Supporting Cohen makes no sense.

I'm with Dada Kopf on this one. Tom Waits supporting someone else?
They both take too much 'space' in a gig.

Unless he's actually physically supporting him like a crutch this is bollocks.

That would be bittersweet. I'd prob still go.

He was due to play about 4 years ago (venue on Dame St ;) ). Tickets were going to be in the region of €150-€200. They will be expensive.

Im really worried about this 150 quid nonsense. I wonder if it was a price rumour started by potential promoters to judge public reaction. Ive scaringly seen people say theyd pay it without question.

Well that doesnt answer anything other than hes gonna make it to Dublin eventually and that its the last date of the European tour I guess. Seriously is that it?

Peskajmba! (i know i spelt it wrong!) Say it along with me...

Well i guess he's at least playing spain and dublin on the european leg of the tour. I love how he ripped the piss so much in that conference.

I saw on ticketmaster that the price for the one show they had listed at the time (i think it was Ohio) was around $85.

I'd still pay any amount to see him, it'll be interesting though to see how much they skyrocket over here.

Would love to see Tom Waits live. Only really got into him this year. Has he played in Ireland in the recent past ?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 23 H Rambles

I think the last time he was here was in '87

Although he got engaged here, and has a gra for irish ballads.

He wrote a poem to for the re-release of The Pogues' 'Rum, Sodomy and The Lash'

Parts of his album Big time were recorded in the Olympia too.

So all in all..... He owes us!

if it's in the same marquee that was in Phoenix Park last summer for Arcarde Fire etc then it'll be all standing I presume. Really hope it is standing, hate seated gigs. Still, as long as it's the mighty Mr. Waits up there on stage, who cares?!! :D
