Looking for recommendations for hair TONERS - understand that if I'm using a pre-lightener eg. L'Oreal Superblonde (which apparently is fairly good), I should use a toner rather than a straight blonde hair dye afterwards. What's available (specifically in Galway, but generally in Ireland), and what's recommended? I was in Boots today and they have the Superblonde pre-lightener, but their range of hair colours was very limited, and I couldn't see anything listed simply as a toner. Any ideas?

I have naturally dark brown hair and i decided to go blond a few months ago. i die my hair at home and i used l'oreal feria at first and it lightened gradually over time.
i used the pre lightener before and my hair was bleached blond and looked more white and it also really dried out my hair and weakened it.
I prefer the feria as it does not contain peroxide and is kinder to your hair and doesn't dry out your hair. The more you use it the lighter it gets.
My sis also uses it and her hair is lighter than mine and it really takes to her hair and is a really natural looking colour

I highly recommend the loreal coleur experte, it really lightens hair and if it isn't light enough you can put in the highlights afterwards!

Just wanted to add further notes in case anyone else is trying to do the same thing - I ended up using 3 (3!) packs of L'Oreal Superblonde, then colouring with L'Oreal Preference Beige Blonde. Bought in Boots on Shop St, cost me about €45 for the lot + €5 for a bottle of Aussie 3 Minute Miracle Cure (very necessary), I'm now quite a nice creamy blonde!
