    So,

I came home yesterday to check my e-mails and discovered that I (my full name, proper spelling etc) had been booked on a flight from Gatwick to Italy.

Initial thoughts were 'wtf, someone has hacked the impregnable credit card securities!' I logged onto Ryanairs website using the confirmation number and discovered that it was a dude in London with my name who'd booked it - and obviously put down the wrong e-mail addy.

I rang him (got number from Ryanair details) and told him he was a dope and forwarded his confirmation details to the proper addy he gave me.

Today I discover another flight confirmation in the aul inbox - this time from Gatwick to JFK. This second flight was booked after I told him that he'd sent his first flight confirmation to me, so I'm thinking either he's a complete mongo or he's trying his best to give me a free trip!

What'd happen if I turned up in Gatwick and checked in before him? I'll probably forward his details to him tomorrow, but I'lll toy with the idea of a trip to NYC first :)

It could be a Nigerian Manrape scam.

Id ignore it to be honest, considering Ryanair dont fly to The US of A

Nothing that comes via email is genuine imo unless you initiated it.

thats my rule of thumb... to avoid manrape traps,

To be honest, i think if you did take the flight, i would fear you could be in trouble for identity fraud?

Take the flight, he's quite clearly an idiot.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 868 ✭✭✭DonalN

i doubt you would actually be able to take the flight. Surely he's realise his mistake and contact either the airline or credit card company. Feicin eejit anyway for doing it twice.

Maybe he knows what hes doing.
Maybe hes bought himself a seperate ticket.
Maybe he wants you to take that chance. Take that flight.
Come away with him and be with him forevernevernever.

this is what happens when people don't pay attention to their autofill options...

don't you supply your passport number for booking tickets with ryan air? or is that only for web check in? so you wouldn't be able to steal his ryanair flight because your passport number would be different (although you could blagg it). don't know if virgin require that info.

I'd gladly fly Ryanair to NYC if the price was good. Why do you all care about comfort ffs? 7.5 hour flight afaik. Just get on, have a beer and a bite to eat and go to sleep listening to the ipod - next thing you know you are in JFK. I thoroughly support such a move.

Comfort in business class or 1st class is great but really do you all live in luxury or something. Get on the God damn plane, sit down and sleep and wake in NYC and have a good time and stop bloody complaining.

Worth a try, but if you take the flight to the states and the American immigration folks notice that you're not who you're meant to be then you're gonna get a rubber-wrapped fist in your arse

Ring him up again and tell him your keeping the flgiht, "fool me twice" and all that. Then blackmail him for the safe return of his flight details.

He needs to be punished for his stupidity, learn him or he'll keep doing it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,523 ✭✭✭kwestfan08

I wouldn't. Wouldn't you have to pat for a flight to gatwick anyway? Just seems like an accident waiting to happen.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 656 ✭✭✭chickenhawk

Don't use it but make him pay for it or tell him you'll cancel it. Or just give it back to him and next time tell him that you will cancel it.

Oh and don't forget to tell him he's a wnaker.

Ryanair only ask for your passport number once you are doing the web checkin so you could easily of used that flight, wouldn't even be a case of identity theft or anything as the ticket is in your name, you have the code for it. Just becasue you didn't pay for it is irrelavent.

Sometimes long haul flights need your passport number during the booking, and I expect the US is the main reason behind that, so that they can check that your not an undesirable before you even get to the airport. But if there's no mention of a passport number on the booking reference that you got sent then you'd probably be OK with that one as well, you could always phone up Virgin and tell them they got your address wrong and forgot to take your passport number so getting it properly transfered to you.

Good for you. Why should everyone be happy with no comfort whatsoever just cause you are? You're obviously a shortarse who doesn't need leg room so lay off the attitude....FFS:rolleyes:
