any problems with an eircom wired netopia modem on a mac?

will i need to ring up eircom to get it to work - or just install cd on the new mac and plug it in?

    cheers

You won't need to install anything, just plug in the Ethernet cable into the right ports on both boxes.

are you sure - it came and had to be installed when i first got it

no ip issues - no issues with a mac in general?

    cheers

    the 3341 one

might convince family to get a mac if the bb works with it with no probs

I have the wireless Netopia router and use both Macs and PC off it no problem.

Sorry about the link, the WEBCGI.EXE should have alerted me, it read OK on my PC at home. Eircom not very Mac web friendly and support page on web often sick.

Ethernet ports are universal and do not require any software installation. Just plug a Mac into your Netopia modem with a standard ethernet cable, configure the Netopia appropriately (if necessary), confirm the Mac's settings and connection (by opening up SystemPreferences > Network) and you're off.

EDIT: as a matter of fact, this 3341 is easily configured using a browser (say Firefox), so if you can configure the ADSL part of the 3341 from the Mac as well and dump that CD.

According to the OP he intends using a wired connection so WEP isn't an issue but there's an easy way of finding the WEP key knowing the SSID of the unit from EIRCOM ;) without using the CD which is Windows only.
