I ported from Vodafone to O2 last week and was told instore at the O2 shop that there would be 50 cent on the sim card and when I register I would be entitled to €60 (6 x 10) in free credit because I got the Sim Card in the shop (it was €40 if not got in a shop). I never recieved any of this crfedit and on ringing O2 last week a customer care agent confirmed the credit wud be applied within 72 hours.

I still havent recieved any credit off them so rang again just there and was told I was in fact entitled to NO credit after porting even though I told him I was told by the shop and a customer care that I was and I also saw it online on the O2 website HERE (convenient enough its not working now) the guy just there said theres been a mistake and he'll contact me shortly again.

O2 have told you there is a mistake and they are investigating. I would follow it up in 2 days (assuming he told you that today) and see if they have credited your account.

If not then you can send in a written complaint and take it further, as of now it just seems like a cock up on their part which they'll fix.

    Have you topped up?

You need to top up by €20 a month to get your free credit.

I followed it up again just now and got talking to a guy that seemed to know his stuff better than most and he thinks he has located the problem that the actual shop where I got the sim-card registered it on the system wrongly and thats why its not recieving the free credit so hopefully he'll sort it all out.

Still nothing done about this problem so rang O2 again today and was finally told that in fact I was not entitled to any free credit when porting from Vodafone to O2 because originally my number was O2 (many years ago) and its only for people coming onto the network for the first time not returning customers, I have had a look here and don't see anything about that. Does anyone have any experience of a similar situation and should I get my free credit for getting the O2 Experience Sim Card in store

None of the networks are giving unconditional credit anymore. You have to top up ten or 20 euro to get the credit, phased out over x months, ten euro per month.

Yes I am aware of the need to top up to recieve it but I have been told I wont be getting any full stop - thats my gripe.

did you pay for the sim? if it was just a blank one then you wont get any credit as its a port resume, if you bought a new 086 number you shouldnt have been able to port what im assuming your current 086 number onto it
