Got a 40GB GTA pack yesterday

Not sure if this actually required a new topic or not but tough shíts. Got Burnout with it aswell but that'll be taking a back seat for now. I'll be heading into town later to pick up a HDMI cable (which I assume is infinitely better than the supplied AV cable? Should be around 20 quid right?) and a BluRay just to check out the quality.

I found this site if anyone's interested, it has tons of backgrounds for the PS3 XMB home screen (nice seeing it transferred from the PSP)

I think that's it, but is there anything else I should get/need/play/know?!

I presume you have a HDTV? If you do then the HDMI cable will make a huge difference.

You should register on the PSN obviously, check out the demos on the store. GTA4 should keep you busy for a while, but there's plenty to check out between demos, PSN games and other disc games. MGS4 and Wipeout HD are probably the next big releases, coming in June.

Yup, guil07 is sot on here. If you've not already played it you're in for a surprise. The multiplayer is where COD4 really shines.

As for GTAIV, I can't comment. I haven't got it

Snap I got my missus to pick up a GTA IV PS3 pack today and I too went for Burnout Paradise as the 2nd game in our local HMV. I didn't fancy the footy ones and always loved the Burnout Games on the PS2. I had also bought a few blue ray movies (2001, Sunshine and Blade Runner.... hmm, I seem to like my Sci-Fi but figured these should show how good Blue Ray can be) a couple of months back in anticipation of getting my shiney new toy. I already have a HDMI cable that I bought when I had an XBox 360, since sold, when I moved from Dublin to the UK.

Although I won't be able to play it for a couple of weeks yet since we are in the process of moving house and will soon be purchasing a very nice 42" Pioneer Plasma to enjoy the PS3 with. At least I don't have to worry about not getting GTA IV. Something very much to look forward to.

I got my missus to pick me up the exact same pack on her lunch from work in hmv for 439.
I was going for the ps2/gta and fifa08, they hadn't got it, she asked for burnout paradise instead (which I'd mentioned I liked as a game, but didn't think it was available in a deal)

So all good, better reviews for burnout than the footy games.

Looks to me like HMV deal is the best (mine got it in Henry street)
, but must be wondering why the girls are picking it up for their fellas, as if it's a condition of the sale,
I'm just waiting for her to drop it into me after work.

Genuinely looks like GTAIV will be the volume seller for the PS3 machine

WTF where was my girlfriend for all this?!
Picked up the HDMI cable and it makes a world of difference, so for those that don't have one I'd recommend you get one asap.
And I also got 30 Days of Night which is absolutely crystal on the HD. But €28 are you joking? The BluRays are all so expensive, at least in HMV anyway.

I got a GTA4 pack too. Its amazing. Im loving it. Just one thing though does anyone notice the PS3 gets really loud after 2 or 3 hours playing. It happened to mine there. A fan went off and it was hairdryer loud. Im wondering if this is normal.

That doesn't sound right!! Mine can get a bit 'whirry' but never 'loud' and I've had mine since Christmas. One of the advantages of the PS3 over the XBox is that it's far quieter than the XBox...

Hah, WHSmith in Cambridge are selling Blu-Rays for £20, so that makes HMV look cheap I might check out HMV prices over here at the weekend...

I think your PS3 is broken. Mine makes no loud noises.

A BIG €2 saving there r3nu4l .

GTA4 is top notch. Genuine Oscar winning performances in it! It has more character and story depth than most films!

And regarding the "loud" Playstation, that doesn't sound very promising. The most I have heard is a whirring as a previous poster said, but never to "hair dryer" level!
