Lexmark 1250 All In One physically connected by USBto an xp laptop. Prints fine. Xp is also on a LAN with a Vista laptop and x1250 the printer is installed as a network printer via virtual USB but it cannot communicate with the Vista pc. I can see the printer across the LAN, it is ready etc but itcan't communicate.Been all over net, seen the same thing, but no solution worked.

Posible solutions are restart the pc/unplug and replug the the printer/disconnect and reconnect the USB etc nOne work. as far as I can see no program is blkocking it have tried turning off firewall/AV and other security and still get the printer cannot communicate with the computer message.

Any ideas? I wondered if it is a vista update that is causing it

It could be the Virtual USB driver not being compatable with Vista. You should try installing it as a normal shared priner instead. If that works, then it's the virtual USB driver that's at fault.
